Sample pack is a sml collection of my sound experiments throughout the last year. Included are snippets of live performances, generative VCV Rack patches and hardware improv. Not feeling like developing these further into full tracks I thought it would be more fun to make them available here and see what other people made with them. Feel free to paul stretch, granular synth, or otherwise slice and dice them however feels the most fun for you. While I was digging deep into my chaotic filing system to air out these samples I’ve been reflecting on the commercial aspect of the sample pack industry as a ready made prefabricated standard which aims to exploit trends in music, cashing in on artists desire to keep up with their contemporaries. I think this standard then narrows the scope of music production leaving us with a kind of homogeny that’s oh so shiny but all so samey.

A friend recently inspired me to think more about how building music community can be a direct counter to Neoliberalism. This was in part my motivation for this release. Reimagining the Sample Pack as a way to share resources and connect with other creatives, in my own way just trying to reclaim some commercial space.
